This Christmas, we truly embraced the spirit of the season with an incredible line-up of events that brought joy, laughter, and a sprinkling of festive magic to everyone at Tŷ Llandaff. From community connections to heart-warming performances, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Our residents chose to get active with "Get Fit for Christmas" sessions – the perfect way to make a little extra room for Christmas dinner! We took part in various exercise classes and walks around the local Cardiff community, and put a fun and festive twist on it. We also welcomed the children from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School for an enchanting morning of storytelling, followed by a visit from their choir, whose beautiful carols filled the home with festive cheer.

We didn’t stop there – Dunelm Cardiff joined forces with us for their "Delivering Joy" campaign, helping us share Christmas cheer by delivering selection boxes to the Gabalfa community. It was a privilege to give back to those who might not receive a gift this Christmas, highlighting the importance of generosity during the season of goodwill.

Getting the opportunity to sing and dance is a favourite activity for our residents and we were lucky enough to have Ian Scott visit and sing us lots of Christmas Classics! They had a brilliant time sharing stories of their Christmas past and debating about the best Christmas song.

A particularly memorable moment was a visit from Tootsie, the Shetland Pony, who made a delightful guest appearance and spread smiles among our residents. Pet therapy has a number of benefits for older adults including improving their moods, increasing feelings of purpose and reducing anxiety.

From snowball fights and a surprise panto to the big day itself, complete with a visit from Santa’s helpers, every moment was brimming with joy. These celebrations not only brought us together as a family but also strengthened our ties with the wider community. We shared laughter, received warmth and gifts, and gave back in turn with a heartfelt donation to the Gabalfa community.

Our jam-packed December was a brilliant way to end the year and we look forward to all the exciting events and outings we have planned for 2025! If you or your loved one are in need of a care home in Cardiff that not only prioritises exceptional care but also encourages you to continue to do the things you love most, book a tour! Our dedicated and compassionate team are here to answer any questions you have and establish which type of care would be most appropriate.
