New Beginnings at Tŷ Llandaff – A Season of Settling In and Springtime Joy

At Tŷ Llandaff, we know that moving into a care home is an emotional time for residents and their families. This month, we’ve seen two beautiful examples of what makes our home so special: a wonderful testimonial from the loved ones of a new resident and the joyful return of our Spring Gardening Club.
As the brighter days return, our residents have been busy bringing the outdoor areas to life. This year’s spring planting has been a wonderful way to mark new beginnings. Over time, we can't wait to see our flowers continue to bloom and bring fresh energy into our outdoor spaces. For many of our residents, gardening brings back happy memories and provides a lovely opportunity to reconnect with nature. Whether it’s choosing what to plant or simply enjoying a hot drink in the sunshine, everyone plays a part in creating something beautiful.
The gardening club is more than just a pastime – it’s a way for residents to express themselves, socialise, and feel part of something meaningful. There’s something so special to us about watching a resident’s face light up as they see the first blooms of the season, especially when they’ve planted them with their own hands. It also creates a lovely environment for families to enjoy when visiting – our garden is often the backdrop for quiet chats, shared stories, and plenty of smiles.

While our garden has been blooming, we’ve also welcomed Pauline, who recently joined us for nursing care. As with many new residents, Pauline’s first few days were filled with adjustment, but with gentle support and patience from our team, she quickly began to settle.
Her family kindly shared their thoughts, and we are proud to share the feedback they gave us:
“I am writing to convey our thanks to the staff over the last few days while mum has been particularly confused and anxious, to be expected of course. However, we wish to express our gratitude for two members, especially. Alina and Maria have gone above and beyond in our opinion to reassure mum, ensure she is safe, well, and most importantly, comfortable. A few others we wish to acknowledge are Beverly, Lucky, Lia, Nicola, and Dora, to name a few. Caring for people is such a difficult job, and a lot of the time, it is not given the recognition it needs. As a team, you’re all special. Your nighttime and weekend staff on the 2nd floor also play a big part, hence your home within the top 20 category.”
We’re proud of our team and the peaceful, nurturing environment they help to create every day. Whether it's planting seeds for your favourite flowers or support while you settle into new surroundings, we’re here every step of the way.
If you're considering care for yourself or a loved one, we’d be honoured to welcome you for a visit. Come on down and find out why we are one of the leading care homes in Cardiff.
