Remembrance Sunday at Ty Llandaff

Residents on Remembrance Sunday

At Ty Llandaff Care Home we paid our respects on Remembrance Sunday held on 13th November. It was an opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms.

The focus of remembrance for the dead of the First World War originally fell on Armistice Day itself, commencing in 1919. We will follow the National Service in London, and watch events staged at towns and village war memorials, featuring processions of civic dignitaries and veterans.

Our residents at Ty Llandaff marked the day by paying tribute to those lost and loved. We had our very own poppy field where we are able to pay tribute and respect to those fallen during the wars.

Residents helped to make poppy cupcakes as well as partake in a variety of activities. We also sparked lots of conversations around World War I & II, where some residents spoke about their childhood memories.

Rememberance Sunday

The image above is a very proud moment for our very own William “Arthur” Thomas, with his son off to commemorate his friend and colleagues who gave their lives. The image was proudly taken on 13th November as Arthur set off to take his place in the parade. Arthur proudly made the BBC news too.

A big thanks to Tanisha our Activities Coordinator for making sure we were able to mark the event in a just and dignified manner.

To find out more about the care services and facilities we offer at Ty Llandaff or to book a home tour, do not hesitate to get in touch with a friendly member of the team who will be delighted to assist you.
